ZAKIRANA VARIEGATED

Zakirana is a premium, hardy variety of bougainvillea that is highly popular in India for its vibrant, year-round floral displays. It is a hybrid, tropical, vine-like shrub known for being low-maintenance and extremely drought-tolerant once established.

Sunlight: Requires full, direct sun (6–8 hours daily). Insufficient light will result in high foliage growth but very few, or no, blooms.

Watering: Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering leads to root rot and poor flowering. Once established, it requires very little water.

Soil: Thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil (sandy or loamy). Ensure potting mix has excellent drainage.

Fertilization: Needs regular feeding during the active growing season (spring to fall). Use a phosphorus-rich fertilizer to encourage blooming rather than a high-nitrogen one.

Pruning: Regular trimming is necessary to maintain shape, prevent it from becoming overgrown, and encourage new growth.
